Walter Boychuk photographs [graphic], 1912-1961 (bulk : 1920-1945)

This collection contains photographs taken by Walter Boychuk that he retained until his death in 1967. The date from ca. 1915-1961, and the bulk of the collection dates from 1920-1945. Most of the collection consists of copy prints made from Boychuk's original negatives that depict various locations in Oregon and other states, including Portland, Bonneville Dam, the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Hood, and various natural features; ships and transportation; and photos taken for the Historical American Buildings Survey (HABS) in 1930-1951 and of the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco in 1940. Additionally in the collection are signed and mounted prints of porttraits, as well as architectural images which Boychuk made for the Pictorial Archives of Early American Architecture at the Library of Congress in 1930, as well as for HABS. There is also one oversized album, entitled "Pacific Northwest by Boychuk," which is a retrospective of photographs that Boychuk made throughout his career. The collection also contains some biographical material about Boychuk and his wife, Anna, from 1930-1959, as well as some photomechanical prints of Boychuk's work.
